HDR is working with public and private clients to plan, develop, design, construct, operate and maintain infrastructure projects around the world. HDR is seeking a Senior Communications Engineer to join the team in the New York/NJ Metro Area.

The Senior Communications Engineer will be a technical lead for Rail Communications and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Support for projects outside the region may also be required.

Typical project responsibilities include:
Design & criteria development and design/construction specifications development
Management of scope, schedule and budget for project tasks
Creating and maintaining program plans, and managing/tracking specifications, design and construction submittals, and related documents
Technical reviews of designs
Working within a technical team organization, lead designs or support design development

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other engineering discipline is required.
P.E. license required
A minimum of 15 years of engineering experience in similar positions as technical lead for Rail Communications and Intelligent Transportation Systems.
Experience with preliminary engineering, and/or final design packages including design criteria, drawings, specifications and construction drawing packages.
Experience in Optical Fiber Networks; SCADA; CCTV & Video Management; Access; Control and Intrusion Detection; Public Address/Customer Information; Advanced Traffic Management Systems is required.
Proficiency with basic IT tools such as MS Office programs, and CAD tools (MicroStation preferred)
Have Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, supervisors, team members and suppliers.
Good analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to use structured methods to identify root causes, create resolution options, evaluate impacts and implement the selected solution.

Candidates who reside locally in the NY/NJ area are preferred. Position can be based in Newark, NJ or NYC.
