Our Valuation Advisory Services practice has an opportunity for a Senior Consultant in our New York or Bethesda (Metro DC area) offices. As a part of this dynamic team, you will have the unique experience to work in a collaborative environment on a wide range of valuation projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Work on business valuation engagements, including valuations for financial reporting, tax, and transactions
  • Explore and learn about the valuation issues in different industries for operating businesses, renewable energy systems and fractional interests in real estate
  • Perform and review third-party business valuations (for audit support) for closely-held companies, publicly-traded companies, and private equity for financial reporting purposes (ASC 805, ASC 350, ASC 360, ASC 718 / IRC 409A, swaps, etc.), tax, and strategic planning purposes
  • Financial modelling, prepare, and review business valuation analyses using DCF, publicly-traded guideline company method, and comparative M&A transactions method
  • Valuation and review of intangible assets using MPEEM, Relief from Royalty Method, Distributor Method, etc.
  • Valuation and review of common stock valuations using equity allocation methods (OPM, PWERM)
  • Conduct financial statement analysis (e.g., common size analysis, ratio analysis, trend analysis, and industry comparative analysis)
  • Perform market, industry, and economic research and analyses
  • Review and summarize financial, corporate, and legal agreements and other documents
  • Write narrative valuation reports
  • Maintain active communication with supervisors throughout engagements and begin to develop client relationships

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics with a strong interest in pursuing an ASA, ABV, or CFA certification
  • 2-4 years business valuation experience with a Big 4 or Top 20 public accounting and advisory firm
  • Demonstrated experience in both performing valuations and reviewing purchase price allocations, goodwill impairment analyses, common stock valuations, etc., including the relevant valuation methods and equity allocation methods
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills
  • In-depth understanding of corporate finance and accounting concepts, including GAAP financial statements
  • Experience working with Capital IQ
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Ability to work on multiple engagements simultaneously with competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based environment
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, or additional hours as required, to meet client needs
  • Experience with valuing and reviewing debt and complex financial instruments/derivatives (swaps, contingent consideration, convertible debt, etc.) and related methodologies / models/programs (Monte Carlo simulation, Binomial Models, CrystalBall, Bloomberg) is a plus
